LIT to PIT

We are leaving in the morning for PA! According to Renee, they have several inches of snow, and it looks like they will be getting some more according to the Weather Channel. I don't know which Nathan is more excited about - seeing his cousins or playing in the snow. (We haven't had any all winter!) It is 69 degrees here. We have worn short sleeves and played outside today, but I have the suitcases packed with our winter gear. We are going to go play some more...I'm hoping to wear these kids out so they will go to sleep early tonight. Our flight leaves at 6:30 in the morning. Wish me luck!

Happy Leap Day!

Hope everyone's having a great February 29th!

Bloggin' on the go!

I just set up my blog so I can post from my phone. Renee, you just thought I was out of control before! Now I'm mobile!

Parents Night Out

Mom called me last week and wanted to take the kids for a night. Yea! So, we met them for lunch yesterday and then had a day to ourselves. After a trip to Starbucks for Jeff to feed his addiction, we did a little shopping. As we were leaving, we drove past the former University Mall and the conversation went like this:

Me: I should take a picture of that for the blog to show Renee.

Jeff: Yeah, you should.

Me: Oh, but the camera's in the trunk.

(Pause)

Me: Pull over and let me get it out.

(Tires screeching as he whips into the Sears parking lot.)

No kids for the night, and this is what we do for fun! We did go to a grown-up movie for the first time in months. (I actually don't remember the last time Jeff and I went to see a movie.) We saw Vantage Point. It started out like "Groundhog Day" - the movie where Bill Murray keeps waking up, and it's the same day over, and over, and over - but it was very intense, and we both liked it.

Ivan the Terrible

Some loser named "Ivan" has tried to post comments on our blog that contain infected files. Nice. I'm sure there is some "blog lingo" for what that is called, but being a novice, I have explained the best that I can. Anyway, please add comments if you would like, but it might take a while for them to show up because I am now moderating what gets posted.

Fun Dip

Nathan got some Fun Dip at his Valentine's Day party today. I don't remember the Fun Dip we grew up with turning your mouth psychedelic colors. (I guess licking a sugar stick and dipping it in flavored sugar is not exciting enough these days!) He shared it with Ashley, and as you can see, they both really enjoyed it.

Pump It Up!

Nathan on the big trampoline

Ashley on the big slide

We went to Pump It Up for the first time on Monday. There are several places around here that have the big indoor inflatables for birthday parties and such, but this place has an open play time on Monday mornings. The kids had a good time, and it wore them (and me) out! We all had a nap that afternoon.

After I carried her up the 20-ft steps to the big slide a few times, Ashley decided to try it on her own. You may not be able to tell from the video, but she loved it.

Diva

Lily's first pool experience

The gym we go to has family night on Fridays. It was really cold all week last week and we had to get out. So we took the kids swimming. They had a blast. Jeremiah finally started putting his head under water!! He was so proud of himself. Lily loved the pool. I did not put the pictures in order. This picture was pre-tubes. So don't worry about the lack of headband. She's all good. Oh by the way I'm sure Aaron will kill me for putting his shirtless picture on the blog, but what can I say? Better him than me.

Lily's surgery

Lily got tubes in her ears Friday. She was a little sluggish right after the surgery, but by Friday night she was back to normal rolling around on the floor and speaking baby language. Here is a pic of her head band. She has ear plugs and a head band to wear in the bath tub. At least it's hot pink and cute.

Monday, Monday

We spent the morning at 2 of our favorite Monday hangouts: the zoo and Chick-Fil-A. We rode the carousel at the zoo and listened to them play "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Sleigh Ride". Somebody seriously needs to update the music selections. Here's Nathan up in the cow car. He was so good this morning. We now reward his good behavior by letting him skip his nap. He's about to outgrow it anyway, but I'm cashing in on the "No Nap" bribery as long as I can!

I guess my baby's all grown up. She climbed all the way up the equipment and went down the slide by herself for the first time today. She had so much fun and cried when it was time to go.

Good Clean Fun

If anyone needs a birthday present idea for Ashley, may I suggest a box of baby wipes. She will entertain herself for 15 or 20 minutes playing with them. Sometimes she will take her socks off, clean her feet, put her socks back on, and then repeat, and repeat, and repeat. (Early signs of OCD? I'm not sure.) Here's a picture of her cleaning Nathan's Buzz Lightyears. I took some video, too, but it's a couple of minutes of her opening one Buzz Lightyear's helmet and washing his face, opening the other one and washing his face, etc. Not exactly enthralling footage.

Gingerbread...in February?

I volunteered to bring the treat bags for both Nathan's and Ashley's Valentine's parties next week. I usually sign up for something simple like plates and napkins, but there was nothing else left on Ashley's list. (Early bird gets the plates and napkins, I guess.) Anyway, when we were shopping for the Valentine's goodies today, Nate saw a gingerbread house kit. Being February 3rd, it was on clearance for 99 cents. I bought it for them to make with the babysitter this evening. (Thanks again, Valerie!) Before we even left, Ashley was nibbling on a piece of the house, and Nathan was squeezing the icing directly into his mouth from the bag. This explains why there are no pictures of the finished product. They all had fun, but I will be spending tomorrow morning scrubbing the kitchen!
