The Pumpkin Patch

Thanks to parent-teacher conferences and a teacher workday, the kids have a 4-day weekend!  I took off a couple of days, so that I could also have a long weekend.  Today, we met some friends at the pumpkin patch and then went to the park to enjoy this beautiful (albeit windy) weather!
We already have 5 orange pumpkins on the porch, so Nate chose a very green one.

I have never seen a corn pit before.  Kind of like a sandbox...except with corn.

I just couldn't get all of them to look in my general direction today.

Double Digits!

My baby boy is 10 years old!  Unbelievable.  Part of me wanted to wake him up at 4:00am as payback for waking me up that early on 10/18/02.  It would also be fitting for me to keep him up until 10:27pm to show him how late he kept me (and many of you!) up waiting for his big arrival. Oh well!  He was well worth the 18+ hours of labor.
Jeff made an early morning doughnut run and came up with this cute "10" idea all on his own.
Nathan has been saving up for a 3DS, but we surprised him with one this morning.  I'm sure he will have no trouble finding games and accessories to buy with his savings.  ; )
Happy Birthday, Nate!  We love you!  Mom, Dad, and Ash

Home Base is Under Attack!

Since October is always a wild and crazy month for us, we decided to make it a little wilder and a lot crazier! We took this bunch to Hot Springs last night to play laser tag and celebrate Nathan's upcoming birthday.

Chad and Tina Collins reinforced the adult team that beat the kids' team two times in a row.  We mixed it up on the 3rd round. Chad and I had most of our boys; Jeff, Tina, and the rest of our boys teamed up with another family. I won't brag about which team won. ;)  I will say that the most important stat of the night was that Jeff and I shot each other an equal amount of times.  (And we have the printouts to prove it!)

Afterward, we has some gigantic pizzas at  Rod's Pizza Cellar.  I don't think anything has changed since the last time I was there 20 years ago!

Afterward, we came home to open presents and have dessert.  How is it that we've had a boy for almost 10 years and never had any Rockem Sockem Robots?

Like last year, Nathan wanted to have a Birthday/Halloween party.  This year's eyeball-themed dessert:  white chocolate covered Oreos.
