Summertime Fun

Nathan's New Goggles

Ashley striking a pose

In the Fischer Family, we celebrate nearly half of our family birthdays in October (Jeff, Amanda, Josh, Brandon, Nathan, and Micah). For the Adams Family, July is the birthday month. We celebrated with the extended Adams clan at a pool party on Petit Jean this weekend. Nathan has been taking swimming lessons for about a year and has really enjoyed the water this summer. Ashley has been less enthusiastic, but did really well this weekend.

By the way, I just found out that Renee hates blogs. Amanda and I decided at some point on our 16 hour drive to PA that starting a family blog would be a great idea. I started it as soon as we got home, and now Renee tells me that she hates them. Oh well! ~ Racheal

Lily Update

Baby Lily is certainly growing! Here are some pictures of her at 3 weeks.

Queen of the Castle

While Nathan has been camping with Fisch and Papa this week, Ashley has really enjoyed being the center of attention at home. Jeff and I have enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with her as well. She has really started talking more in the last couple of weeks. This has helped reduce (but has not all together eliminated) her screaming bloody murder for whatever it is that she wants.

The Duckmaster

A few weeks ago, Nathan was the Honorary Duckmaster at the Peabody. ("That means special," he'll tell you.) He really had a good time. Brandon and KayKay were there to watch the Duck March. You have to be at least 4 years old to be the HD, and Mikayla can hardly wait until she's old enough to have a turn. Afterwards, we rode the trolley downtown. The kids (and some of the adults) got bored and hungry. Josh thought it would be good idea to re-live some childhood memories and have lunch at Casa Viva (formerly known a Casa Bonita...or was it the other way around?) After a few minutes of debating whether or not that dive was even still in business, we drove down University Ave. to find the doors locked with a chain and full of bullet holes. We quickly left and had lunch at Senor Tequila. ~ Racheal

What about Ashley?

Oops! We had so many kids running around at Mom and Dad's this weekend that I forgot to post any pictures of Ashley. While she's only got one strand of Mardi Gras beads around her neck in this picture, she had 15 or 20 on at one time. Then she realized that she could drop them down in between the slats on the porch. We tried to get them out with coat hanger, but there's still enough down there to have a small parade.

Playing at Fisch and Papa's House

If you ask Nathan what Fisch's favorite word is, he will say that it is "Sure!". Anything goes at Fisch and Papa's house. "Can I have Mountain Dew in my sippie cup? Sure!" "Can I have Tootsie Rolls for dinner? Sure!" Here are some pictures of the kids (full of sugar and caffeine) playing at Fisch and Papa's.

Brand New Baby Lily

Now that the Fischer family is spreading out over the eastern United States, I thought we should start a family blog to help keep in touch. Most of you know that Renee's family is now living in Pennsylvania. We recently made a mad dash there to welcome the newest addition to the Fischer family, Lily Renee Johnson. She was born July 9th. Many of you probably do not know that Amanda's family is making plans to move to the southern part of Florida in the upcoming year.

Our family is not the most technologically advanced, so if you check back in a month, and this is the only post, do not be surprised. But for now, here's a valiant effort to enter the 21st century.
