They Like to Party, Party...

Yesterday was church clothes and emotional speeches. Today was crazy costumes and fun! The annual 5th grade picnic got rained out, so the event was moved to the gym. It seemed like the new venue could be lame, but the parents worked hard to make it a fun day. Jeff was there all day and manned the drink station and bouncy slide. (I've heard there was a near collapse when all teachers went down together!) I was in charge of gathering Photo Booth props. I brought a box full and had some other donations. The props were a hit!

I snuck down to the cafeteria to spend a few minutes with this cutie.

Carter and Caleb came home with us after school. When I got home from work, we went out for dinner. I snapped this picture when they weren't looking. Nathan's helping Carter get in his wheelchair. So sweet!

Down Memory Lane

Camera charged? Check.
Waterproof mascara? Check.
Tissues in purse? Check.

Today was Nathan's 5th Grade Promotion at Roberts. I don't think it would seem like such a big deal if the middle school situation were better here in the LRSD. After six great years of public education, our kids are now scattering around the city to find the best fit for their families for middle school. Nathan has been part of a close-knit group of boys whose families have become some of our close friends as well. It's sad to see them going their separate ways. I held it together pretty well during the ceremony with only a few tears, but it was touch-and-go. I had to tune out during the part of the slideshow when they played "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Seriously, people?

Since I'm a glutton for emotional punishment, I've downloaded one of my favorite pictures from each grade. They're all blog repeats, but I think they are worth sharing again. Congratulations, Nathan! We love you!

Congratulations, Jared!

We headed to Bismarck last night for Jared's graduation. He did a great job on his Salutatorian speech! We have one more Adams family graduation next year and then a little break before the next, BIG round of high school graduations start in 2021, 2022, and on, and on!

And I can't resist a few throwback pics (c. 1999). Congratulations, Jared!

Last Field Day Together

I'm a little sad that we are in the last few weeks of my kids being in school together. The convenience of having one drop-off and pick-up aside, I really just like knowing they are under the same roof. Nathan will be "graduating" from elementary  next week and moving on to middle school. (Sniff, sniff.) More on that later!

Jeff was able to be at Field Day this year and sent me pics and a play-by-play of the big 5th Graders vs. Teachers Kickball Game. (Spoiler alert: The teachers remain undefeated!)

Mother's Day

A few pics from Mother's Day with my crazy kids and Jeff's mom.

I didn't take any pictures with my mom when we saw here Mother's Day weekend. Since I've been in a video-posting mood, I'll leave you with this adorable video from Mother's Day a few years back:

School Dance 2014

One of the MANY end-of-the-year activities at school was a dance. It was actually 2 dances in one with K-2nd in the Dining Room and 3rd-5th in the gym. I helped out with the little kids and ended up slopping about 5 gallons of "cheese" on nachos. (Sorry, no lunch lady pics!) I did get a few pics if kids though.

It was a rockin' good time in the gym!

Soccer 2014

Another soccer season is in the books! Both teams ended up with winning seasons this year. Go Lady Badgers! Go Team USA! Nate's team has been playing together for 5 years. Midway through the season, we lost one of our MVPs after Carter broke his leg on the playground. They rallied for their injured teammate and didn't lose a game. I love these boys!

For the first time ever, we completed a soccer season with NO rained out games. We did have some crazy temperatures though. The last game of the season was probably the coldest one!
