We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo...

Today was the Kindergarten Field Trip to the zoo.  I think just about every kindergarten class in the state of Arkansas was there today!!  Our day started out pretty rough as they only sent 2 buses to the school to pick up 7 classes of kids.  After much waiting and a little rearranging of the schedule, we finally got to see some animals.  The penguins were the first stop and a big hit with everyone.  They really put on a good show for us.

Ashley's all-time favorite: the giraffes.

She also liked the lions.

The fighting grizzly bears drew quite a crowd.  I'm pretty sure they were actually fighting. ; )

Recycled Art and Radishes

We've been really busy with projects around our house lately.  One of them was this lovely piece for the "Recycled Art" show that was put on by the kindergartners in celebration of Earth Day.  We went through our garage sale pile and made this from an old painting and some game pieces.

We have also been working on a mandatory 3rd grade science fair project.  Of all things, Nathan decided that he wanted to do a project about plants.  Seriously?  I have an entire lab at my disposal to do some cool chemistry or microbiology project, but he wants to grow plants.  Since it's not my project, we went with his idea.  So, we've been raising a mini radish farm in the dining room for the past two weeks.  I don't even think any of us eats radishes, but I heard they were easy to grow.  I'll let you know how it turns out.
Nathan looking really excited about writing in his log book.

I won!!

Today I had to work for The Bair Foundation. I was supervising a community visit at a local community day and they were having a 50/50 raffle so I entered and won $56. A guy from my church was there and he couldn't believe my winning streak this year. Maybe I should start buying lottery tickets??????

Crazy Daisy!

We've been dog-sitting Daisy this week. Poor dog! She's been dragged around everywhere and nearly loved to death, but she's been very tolerant of all the attention.

Egg Fight!!!

On Sunday afternoon, we had friends over for an egg hunt. Afterward, all of the kids quickly emptied their loot, and took the empties outside for an egg fight. The fight definitely outlasted the hunt! (No pictures of the fight. I stayed inside, out of the line of fire, while they pelted each other with hard plastic.)
Ashley was the only girl, but aside from one minor injury, she held her own against the boys! Nathan and Carter had quite a system - high and low.Sam climbing...

... and Sam climbing even higher!

Luke surveyed the field before the hunt started, so he had a good strategy for getting the most eggs.
This guy was the lucky one finding the Jumbo egg with $5 and lots of others with $1. I might need a loan from the Bank of Caleb. ;)

Virtual Easter

After opening Easter baskets and going to early church, we had our traditional Easter dinner at our house with Mom and Dad. We did get to "see" both the Johnsons and Stacys via Skype and FaceTime. Gotta love technology!

Easter Eggs!

Someone gave us a few dozen farm fresh eggs this week, so we used some of them for our Easter eggs. The fresh eggs were colorful even before we dyed them. Here's the finished work:
