One random day in January, we started thinking about where we might go for Spring Break. We thought about going back to Orlando but wanted to come up with some other options. We pulled out the atlas, closed our eyes, and started picking random spots on the map. After unsuccessfully landing on a few exciting vacation destinations such as Poplar Bluff, Missouri, we abandoned that plan.
A little while later, Jeff (expecting me to say “no”) said, “Why don’t we go to Hawaii?” He was surprised when I said, “Okay!” When we asked the kids if they would rather go back to Disney World or go to Hawaii, they both shouted, “Hawaii!” It was one of my proudest moments as a parent.
We caught a very early flight on Sunday. I anticipated dragging the kids out of bed and through the airport, but they we’re so excited that we had no trouble getting around. When we touched down in San Francisco, there was a rainbow that ended right over the airport. What a great sign! First glimpse of Honolulu from the plane...We made it to Honolulu by 1:00pm local time, so we had most of the afternoon to check out the beach and the resort before we gave out! When we got back to the room, Ashley was wiggling one of her loose teeth. I checked it, and it pretty much fell out in my hand. How many people can say they lost their first tooth in Hawaii? We ended the day with milk and cookies in our room. Ashley and I crashed by 7:00pm, which felt like midnight to us. View from our balconyWaiting for the tooth fairy!
