It's hard to believe it's already that time of year again! They took the cover off at the pool last week, so of course, my kids have already gone for a swim!

Science Fair 2013
The Science Fair is mandatory for 3rd through 5th grade at our school. That means I will be doing a project for 6 straight years!! Don't get me wrong. I'm a self-proclaimed science nerd, so it's not the worst thing to have to do. However, I decided to impose some ground rules:
- NO GROWING PLANTS - it takes too long!
- Project must be able to be completed in a weekend.
- He will be typing the logbook from here on out. Nathan and I nearly came to blows last year as I made him painstakingly write out 21 days of data! (See Rule #1.) In my defense, I thought it had to handwritten.
He decided to go with something I know a little bit about this year--microbiology. We both enjoyed the project more, and I think he actually learned something in the process. The icing on the cake--he won first place in his class! Yea, Nate!
Movie Night
The kids have a movie night at school every once in a while. Jeff's taken them before, but I've never been. We went last month, and it was crazy! They wore their pajamas and watched "Wreck It Ralph". Cute movie and a fun night.
Hello again!
I've decided to stop apologizing for the infrequent blogging. Life's busy! So if I post a few highlights and a few random snapshots of our lives here and there, that's better than nothing. Now that I've absolved myself, here's what's been going on this month...
We've been trying to play soccer, but it's rained. A lot. Especially on Thursdays when Ash is supposed to have practice. Her little team is 2-2. I think they've had more games than practices, so that's pretty good. Nathan's team has dominated once again. They've only been beaten in one scrimmage, but it was against 5th/6th graders.

She shoots...she scores!
The wet weather rained out our soccer game last week and both practices this week. But the sun was shining yesterday, so it was "game on". Actually, it was "games on". Ashley decided to play this year, too! Getting a girl ready for a soccer game presented some new challenges. We've never had to decide how to wear your hair or remember to take out your earrings with Nathan. :) She ended up packing a powerful punch in that XS jersey! She was fast, aggressive, and scored the only goal in the game! The Lady Buckeyes won 1-0.
Nathan's old team got back together this year with a new team name: The Breakers. Nathan didn't score this game, but they ended up winning 5-1. Looking forward to more sunny days and another fun season!

37 and counting...

| The kids call it a "Fire Restaurant", and it did not disappoint. |
Jeff, of course, made my day really special. From coffee and doughnuts, to flowers and gifts, to good friends and good food...he pretty much took care of everything.

Taste the Rainbow

Ashley's due date was St. Patrick's Day 2006. She was born one day early on the 16th, but we still think she's part leprechaun. ;) We decided to have a St. Patrick's Day-themed birthday weekend. Yesterday, we went to the SPD Parade downtown and then came home to open presents and have an 8-layer, rainbow birthday cake! The outside didn't look that great. (I ran out of icing - twice!) But the inside looked almost Pinterest-worthy. It wasn't hard to make, but mixing up all of those colors made for a lot of dirty dishes!
